What most people don't know about farmed salmon from Norway — and why we consciously choose a different path
Salmon is one of the most purchased fish products in Europe — and at the same time one of the most debated. The difference between conventional farmed salmon and genuine organic salmon is greater than with almost any other food.
Why conventional farmed salmon is problematic
- PCBs and Dioxins — University of Albany study (Science, 2004): significantly higher contamination in European farmed salmon
- Ethoxyquin — banned in food in the EU, permitted in fish feed, residues detected in muscle tissue
- Synthetic Astaxanthin — the pink color does not come from food, but from synthetic additives
- Pesticides against sea lice — Deltamethrin, Azamethiphos — residues documented in fish
Why we rely on organic salmon from Ireland
- EU Organic Aquaculture Regulation (EC 710/2009) — max. 10 kg/m³ stocking density, no synthetic astaxanthin, no prophylactic antibiotic use
- Natural Astaxanthin from Organic Krill — higher bioavailability
- Atlantic current as natural filtration — constant water exchange, natural oxygen supply
- Better Omega-3 profile — higher EPA and DHA concentration than conventional farmed salmon
Organic Freshwater Fish — Arctic Char & Trout from Austrian Spring Water
- Arctic Char — only survives in the purest, cold spring and glacier water — AT Bio 301 certified
- No sea lice, no pesticides — freshwater fish are naturally free of these
- 2–3g Omega-3 per 100g — comparable to salmon, without contamination risks
- Short transport routes — Austrian and Alpine farms, directly to you
Best in combination
- Organic Salmon + Organic Olive Oil — double anti-inflammatory effect
- Organic Fish + Organic Lemon — Vitamin C improves iron absorption
- Organic Arctic Char + Hay Milk Butter — classic Austrian preparation
- Organic Salmon + just be Prosecco — elegant accompaniment
